Boone County Democrats gathered Saturday for the first Boone County Democratic "Block Party" Picnic. The event was attended by about 40 people who gathered at the McHose Shelter House in McHose Park in Boone to hear candidates for local, state and federal office make a pitch for supporting each other if the party is to grow.
Kim Weaver, of Sheldon, who is challenge incumbent Republican Steve King in Iowa’s Fourth Congressional District, said their are too many Republicans holding office in Iowa.
"Something has to change or we’ll become Wisconsin or, God forbid, Kansas," Weaver said.
